마르크스주의적 ‘구조’ 개념에 대한 비판적 고찰 - 랑시에르 대 바스카 - = Marxism through Rancière's Eyes - Bhaskar's Generative Mechanism vs. Ranciere's Equality

국문 초록 (Abstract)

자크 랑시에르는 사회에 대한 과학적 이해를 추구하는 마르크스주의나 ‘관계의 존재론’에 바탕을 둔 구조주의가 대중의 정치적 실천을 억압한다고 주장한다. 나아가 그는 정치가 정치의 조건으로 환원될 수 없는 독자적인 특징을 갖는다고 주장한다. 마르크스주의의 이름으로 대중을 억압한 다수의 사례가 있다는 점을 고려할 때, 그의 비판은 주의 깊게 들을 필요가 있다. 또한 마르크스주의나 구조주의 이론들이 구조의 일반성을 강조하면서 대중의 실천을 상대화한 것도 사실이다. 하지만 사회에 대한 과학적 이해라는 문제틀 자체가 실천을 억압한다는 그의 주장은 비판적으로 수용할 필요가 있다. 나아가 현실에 대한 구체적이고 객관적인 분석없이 유효한 실천을 사고할 수 있는지 반문할 필요도 있다. 따라서 이 글에서는 랑시에르의 비판에 반해 과학과 실천의 접합을 사고할 수 있는 방법을 고찰해 보고자 한다.
하지만 이 글이 단순히 랑시에르에 반해 과학적 담론의 특성 및 유효성을 방어하는 데 그치지는 않을 것이다. 마르크스주의 이론이 이데올로기나 이데올로기 내부의 모순을 적합하게 이론화하지 못하는 데 반해, 랑시에르의 ‘평등’ 이론은 이러한 이론적 약점을 보완할 수 있는 이론적 잠재력을 지닌다. 이는 랑시에르의 이론이 과학적 문제설정을 부정하기보다 과학적 문제설정 안에서 마르크스주의의 한계를 보완할 수 있다는 것을 의미한다. 따라서 이 글에서는 랑시에르가 주장한 것과 달리 랑시에르의 ‘이상적 보편성’ 이론을 과학적 문제설정의 틀 속에서 이해하고 이를 마르크스주의와 접합할 수 있는 방법에 대해 고찰할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Jacques Rancière criticizes Marxist project of a struggle of science, including Althusser's, against ideology for repressing the potential strength of mass revolt. Though admitting the relevance of his criticism that politics cannot be reduced to the simplicity of the Marxian proletariat nor to its conditions, however, it is not easy to accept his other claim that the idea of scientific understanding of society exercised a negative impact on social or popular movements as such. Thus, this paper attempts to reconsider/reconstruct the meaning of sciences and structure, without negating the social movements' effectivity, with reference to Bhaskar's critical realism.
However, this paper will not simply defend the role of sciences against Rancière, but rather attempt to articulate Rancière's theory of equality with the Marxian framework of the mode of production. Rancière's theory of ideal universality has the theoretical potential to complement what lacks in the Marxist theory of ideology rather than deconstructing it, by providing a concrete theoretical too to analyze the materiality of ideology and its immanent contradictions.
