      The purpose of this study is to create a general view of directions of postmodern curriculum research in the West. Since there has been no enough discussion on the detailed introduction of the research themes and contents of postmodern curriculum research in Korea, the authors attempt to introduce the current state and features of curriculum research based on postmodern research paradigm. For this purpose, five representative scholars (Cleo Cherryholmes, Patti Lather, Henry Giroux, William Doll, Patrick Slattery) were selected as major reference and their research works were analyzed in order to understand how various ideas and concepts of post-modernism were used and theorized for creating new discourse for postmodern curriculum studies. As a result, each scholar`s work and their contributions were identified based on reading on their writings and publications. The analysis enabled readers to recognize what it means to do potmodern curriculum reearch by letting them understand how postmodern ideas were applied to curriculum matters and theorizing in major scholars` works. Lastly, it has been discussed that this article will be used as beginning point to pus Korean scholars to conceptualize and practice the postmodern ideas to curriculum research in Korea.

      The purpose of this study is to create a general view of directions of postmodern curriculum research in the West. Since there has been no enough discussion on the detailed introduction of the research themes and contents of postmodern curriculum research in Korea, the authors attempt to introduce the current state and features of curriculum research based on postmodern research paradigm.
