머신러닝을 적용한 인구구조 변화(저출산)에 따른 태권도장 산업의 생존 전략 방안 = Machine Learning-Based Survival Strategies for the Taekwondo Dojang Industry in Response to Demographic Change Caused by Low Birth Rates

국문 초록 (Abstract)

목적 본 연구는 공공데이터와 머신러닝 기법을 활용하여 저출산에 따른 지역별 인구구조와 시장 특성이 태권도장 폐업률에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 태권도장 산업의 생존 전략 방안을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다.
방법 2023년 12월 31일 기준 전국 17개 시·도를 대상으로 지방행정 인허가 데이터와 KOSIS 주민등록인구 자료를 수집하였 다. 유소년 인구 비율과 경쟁 강도를 독립변수, 폐업률을 종속변수로 설정하였으며, K-means 군집분석과 랜덤 포레스트 회귀 분석을 실시하고 OLS와 비교하였다.
결과 전국 17개 시·도는 유소년 인구 비율과 경쟁 강도에 따라 3개 상권 유형으로 구분되었다. 랜덤 포레스트는 OLS보다 높은 설명력(R ²=.4078)과 낮은 예측오차(RMSE=2.4796)를 보였으며, 폐업률에 대한 기여도는 유소년 인구 비율(.6397), 경쟁 강도(.3603) 순으로 나타났다.
결론 태권도장 폐업 위험은 저출산에 따른 수요 기반 약화와 지역별 경쟁 환경이 결합된 구조적 결과로 확인되었다. 따라서 태권도장 산업의 지속가능성을 위해서는 지역별 인구 특성을 반영한 맞춤형 경영 전략과 데이터 기반 지원정책이 필요하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Purpose This study aimed to examine the effects of regional demographic structure and market characteristics associated with low birth rates on Taekwondo dojang closure rates using public data and machine learning, and to suggest survival strategies for the Taekwondo dojang industry.
Method Data were collected for 17 metropolitan cities and provinces in Korea as of December 31, 2023, using local business license data and KOSIS resident registration population data. The youth population ratio and competition intensity were set as independent variables, and closure rate as the dependent variable. K-means clustering and random forest regression were conducted and compared with OLS.
Results The 17 regions were classified into three market types according to youth population ratio and competition intensity. Random forest showed higher explanatory power (R²=.4078) and lower prediction error (RMSE=2.4796) than OLS. Feature importance analysis indicated that the youth population ratio (.6397) was the most influential variable, followed by competition intensity (.3603).
Conclusion The risk of Taekwondo gym closure was identified as a structural outcome shaped by the combined effects of weakening demand caused by low birth rates and regional competitive conditions. Therefore, sustainable development of the Taekwondo dojang industry requires customized management strategies reflecting regional demographic characteristics and data-driven support policies.
