발명악보 활동에서 나타난 유아의 음악적 및 수학적 사고의 의미 = The Meaning of Musical and Mathematical Thinking that Young Children Represent in the Invented Notations

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the value of the invented notations by analyzing the musical and mathematical thinking and knowledge that young children reflect on their invented notations. Eighteen 5-year-old children at a kindergarten in Gyeonggi-do were naturally exposed to the invented notation activities over 18 weeks and produced their own invented notations. The results of analyses of 239 invented notations showed that young children can write down their musical and mathematical knowledge, focusing on their own highlight parts and that they can creatively record their own musical forms 'like drawing' or 'like writing'. Moreover, in order to record their musical knowledge, they could intrinsically and actively utilize their mathematical knowledge that is a presumable driving force to encourage their musical thinking. By doing so, the invented notation fundamentally plays pre-notational roles, functionally encourages young children's musical and mathematical thinking, and eventually helps them experience various knowledge-converted processes.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 발명악보 활동 중, 유아가 음악을 기록하는 과정에서 어떠한 음악적 지식과 수학적 지식을 표상하며, 음악적 및 수학적 사고과정을 경험하는지 분석하는데 있다. 이를 위해 경기도 용인시에 소재한 A유치원 만5세 유아 18명에게 18주 동안 발명악보 활동을 제공하고 발명악보를 표상하도록 하였다. 총 239개의 발명악보를 면담내용에 기초하여 분석한 결과, 유아들은 음악곡의 특성에 기초하여 ‘자신 만의 하이라이트’ 부분에 집중하여 음악적 지식과 수학적 지식을 기록하였으며, ‘그림을 그리듯’ 혹은 ‘글씨를 쓰듯’ 표상하며 자신만의 창의적인 기보전략으로 기록하는데 성공하였다. 또한, 유아들은 음악적 지식을 기록하기 위해 수학적 지식을 ‘자연스럽게 그리고 적극적으로’ 활용하며, 수학적 지식은 음악적 사고전개에 중요한 기반이 됨을 알 수 있었다. 이를 통해, 발명악보는 전-악보적(pre-notation) 기능을 하고, 음악적 및 수학적 사고를 격려하며, 다양한 형태의 지식변환을 경험하게 하는 역할을 하고 있음을 알 수 있다.
