In this paper, U.S.Army's TACFIRE(Tactical Fire) System has been studied and the advantages and disadvantages of that system have been analyzed. And then the directions and principles for the Computerization of Korean Field Artillery Fire Direction System have been suggested. Considering the geographical characteristics of Korean Peninsula and the tactical principles of enemy we conclude that our artillery should be computerized using updated microcomputer at each battalion, and use the existing battery-level-equipment. The digital communication and communication security(COMMSEC) device will improve the security and the speediness in the communication net of this sysetem. Finally the adequate software development will be a core of this computerization, in which all programs are recorded on the magnetic tape cartridge(MTC) and they cause the computer to maintain files that provide a continually updated record of artillery data, to utilize data from those files to solve artillery problems, and to respond to input messages with appropriate recommended solutions.
