무단결석과 청소년 비행경험과의 관계 = The Relationship between Truancy and Adolescent Delinquency

As a marker of risk, school truancy has been identified as one of predictive factors for juvenile delinquency and school failures such as substance abuse, violence, suicide, early sexual activities. The current study investigated the influence of truancy on adolescent delinquent experience. The secondary data set from the Family Culture of National Youth Policy Institute(NYPI) in 2010 included a total of 6,979 adolescents in middle and high schools. The collected data were analyzed with independent t-test, Krusal-Wallis test, Duncan test, and Hierarchical regression analysis using PASW18.0. Delinquent experience showed statistically significant difference in school type 1(middle/high school), school type 2(boys/girls, coed), grade, gender, total grade, parents' job, economic status, and truancy. After controling for general characteries, the result of the hierarchical regression showed that truancy was a statistically significant predictor of delinquent experience, accounting for 29.7% of the variance in delinquent experience. The findings of this study suggested that truancy interventions were necessary to decrease adolescent delinquent behaviors, and early truancy interventions based on school-family-community collaboration were crucial.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

학교무단결석은 청소년 비행위험지표로서 약물사용 및 남용, 폭력, 자살, 조기 성관계등과 같은 비행 행동들과 교육실패의 중요한 예측 요인으로 알려져 왔다. 이에 본 연구는 전국의 중․고등학교에 재학 중인 총 6,979명의 청소년을 대상으로 실시한 가족의식조사 데이터(2010년 한국청소년정책연구원의 횡단조사 자료)를 토대로 무단결석이 청소년 비행경험에 미치는 영향을 규명하고자 하였다. 수집된 자료는 PASW 18.0 프로그램을 사용하여 independent t-test, Kruskal-Wallis test, Duncan test, hierarchical regression analysis로 분석하였다. 학교유형1(중/고등학교), 학교유형2(남/여학교, 공학), 학년, 성별, 학업성적, 부모직업유무, 가정경제상태, 무단결석여부에 따라 비행경험은 유의한 차이가 있었다. 위계적 회귀분석에 의해 구축된 모형에서 일반적 특성을 통제하고 무단결석이 비행경험에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과, 무단결석이 비행경험의 변량을 29.7% 설명함으로써 무단결석이 비행경험의 유의한 예측요인으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 통해 청소년의 비행행동을 감소시키기 위한 중재로써 청소년의 학교무단결석을 예방하고, 학교-가족-지역사회 연계의 다각적인 무단결석 조기 개입 프로그램이 필요함을 제언하였다.
