      The purpose of this study is to develop a famous painting application program to enhance children's empathy ability and to provide basic data for empathy enhancement and famous painting application program by examining the application effect. For the program development, the ADDIE model was modified and applied. The application point of the program composition was derived by analyzing the literature, and questionnaires and interviews of incumbent teachers. The structure of this program consisted of goals and objectives, educational contents, teaching-learning methods, and evaluation. In order to verify the field application effect of the famous painting application program, which consisted of 30 sessions of appreciation, connection, and expansion activities based on the selected 15 masterpieces, 45 (22 in experimental group, and 23 in comparison group) 5-year-old children from J Kindergarten located in C city participated. As a result of the study, in the pre- and post-t-test conducted to analyze the effect of enhancing children's empathy ability, the famous painting application program showed significant effects on children's cognitive empathy, emotional empathy, and social empathy. Empathy transcends time and space, and it is expected to be basis for maintaining qualitative relationships among members of society and for social development.
