메타담론으로 본 국사교과서의 수사적 표현 변화 = Rhetorical Figures Change in Korean History Textbook from Using Metadiscourse

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

If the textbook writers use rhetorical figures to present their intention and attitude, We need to find them in the textbook. I analyzed the subjacent system of metadiscourse to know how the rhetorical figures were used in the text book from the 1st curriculum to the 7th curriculum. The rhetorical figures are divided into four groups, that is, emphasis, conviction, valuation and supposition. In the textbook, emphasis and valuation are mainly used by writers to express their attitude or intention. and valuation and supposition are followed. Meanwhile, there are several factors that influence the way rhetorical figures change. First of all, The curriculum, the conformity of compiling history text books and conversion to the state books affect the change of rhetorical figures. Second, the textbook writer's private style and jointly writing also affect them . Last, the results from the study reflected in the textbook change the rhetorical figures. It is desirable that rhetorical figures should be naturally presented if they help read the textbook.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

교과서의 저자가 의도나 목적을 드러내는데 내용 서술보다 수사적 표현을 많이 사용한다면 국사 교과서 안의 수사적 표현을 찾아볼 필요가 있다. 그래서 교수요목기부터 제 7차 교육과정에 걸쳐 편찬된 국사 교과서의 수사적 표현이 어떤 식으로 드러나고 있는지 알아보기 위해서 메타담론의 하위 범주 체계를 도입하여 분석해보았다. 수사적 표현은 크게 강조적 표현, 확신적 표현, 추측적 표현, 평가적 표현의 4가지로 분류할 수 있는데 교과서에서는 강조적 표현과 평가적 표현을 주로 나타났고 확신적 표현, 추측적 표현은 잘 사용되지 않았으며, 최근 교과서로 올수록 수사적 표현은 감소하고 있었다. 교과서에 평가적 표현과 강조적 표현이 유난히 많은 이유는 어린 독자들에게 역사적 사실에 대한 판단을 내려줘야 한다는 저자의 배려와 교과서 지면의 한계로 많은 서술을 넣을 수 없기 때문에 중요한 점을 최대한 부각시켜야 한다는 저자의 생각이 반영된 것이다. 반면, 확신적 표현이 적은 이유는 이미 저자의 권위를 인정받고 있는 상황에서 굳이 독자를 설득하거나 감동시킬 필요가 없기 때문이고 추측적 표현은 교과서 절대 권력 신화를 아직까지 과감히 깰 수 없기 때문이라고 생각된다.
한편, 수사적 표현의 변화에 영향을 주는 요인을 살펴보았는데, 우선 교육과정 및 국사교과서 편찬 준거안 그리고 국정 교과서로의 전환을 들 수 있다. 교과서 저자의 개인적 취향과 공동 집필과 연구 성과의 반영 등도 수사적 표현에 영향을 주고 있었다. 수사적 표현이 독자가 글을 읽는데 도움이 된다면 애써 감추는 것보다는 자연스럽게 표현하는 것이 바람직할 것이다.
수사적 표현을 보이는 것이 글을 쓰는 저자의 자연스러운 모습이고 동시에 수사적 표현이 학생들이 글 읽는데 도움이 된다면 줄어드는 것보다 늘어나는 것이 바람직할 것이다. 이런 점을 감안하여 교과서 저자가 본연의 개성이 드러날 수 있는 자유로운 서술 풍토를 마련해주어야 할 것이다. 또 저자들은 객관적이어야 한다는 미신에서 벗어나 자신의 개성을 표현할 수 있는 서술 자세로 여러 연구 성과를 수록할 필요가 있다.
