The modern beauty industry has expanded beyong a technology-oriented service field into acreative design area that expresses individuality and sensibility. In particular, hair design is a formative field in which form, color, and texture are directly expressed. Therefore, not only technical skills vut also creative thinking and artistic expression are increasingly required of beaut professionals. In this context, O·M·C Hairworld, an internaional competition in which beauty professionals from various countries participate, serves as an important source for examing formative trends and expressive methods in hair design. The purpose of this study is to analyze award-winning works in the Women’s Technical category of O·M·C Hairworld from 2022 to 2025 and o create hair design works focusing on butterfly forms based on the analysis. The subjects of analysis were award-winning works in the Creative and Hair by Night sections of thr Woen’s Technical category. The works were analyzed according to three design elements: form, color, and texture. Based on the results, a total of five hair design works were created by applying the formative and color characteristics of butterflies. The results of the study showed that the award-winning works in2022 were charaterized by soft curves and outward-spreading structures inspired by marine life. In 2023, the works emphasized the movement of waves and sea creatures. In 2024, rotational and expanding images of natural phenomena, such as whirlpools, tornado-like movements, wave foam, splashes, and mist, were observed. In 2025, decorative formative expressions based on flower petals, bird wings, and feathers were prominent. These findings indicate that the award-winning works in the Women’s Technical category of O·M·C Hairworld developed form, color, and texture in various ways based on natural motifs. In the production of the hair design works, the wing structure, bilateral balance, curved flow, color variation, and delicate patterns of butterflies were applied as formative elements of hair design. As a result, the butterfly motif was found to be an effective source for creating three-dimensional silhouettes, color contrast, and light texture in both Creative and Hair byNignt works. This study in significant in that it organizes the annual design trends of O·M·C Hairworld award-winning works and suggests the creative potential of natural motifs through the production of hair design works based on butterfly forms. Furthermore, the results of this study are expected to serve as basic data for future hair design development and creative design ideation.
