The study analyzed battlefield and duty stress factors and post-traumatic stress disorder factors, examined how does the stress from the abroad dispatched place affect stress reaction (physical, psychological, and behavioral), and researched how does control factor such as social support, characteristics, and one's way of handling affect on the response and consequence of the stress through the empirical analysis. The purpose of the study is to find the stress management method that can reduce stress and make the increasing soldiers dispatched overseas concentrate on the assigned job in the corps area and to find alternative method to reduce stress factors of the soldiers dispatched overseas or to prepare response as a group. The study used empirical research method based on the questionnaire research. The study conducted pre-test of returned military personnels after the fulfillment of their overseas dispatch duty for the specific analysis and the real test was carried out with the verified questionnaire. The study conducted survey of the whole military personnels in the 7th camp of Lebanon military unit, which is whole among the present dispatched troops by carrying on verification of hypothesis and analysis of the analysis of structural equation model after distributing three hundred fifty questionnaires and collecting three hundred fifty questionnaires. The analysis of the resources carried on empirical analysis through analysis package, GKS Amos 4.0 and SPSS 17.0. The followings are the research result deducted from the analysis mentioned above.
First, the study sample is composed of 114 military personnels (33%), 146 non-commissioned officers (42%), 76 company grades (22%), and 14 field officers and civilian workers (3%). In the sample, 71% is in their 20s, 22% is in their 30s, and 7% is in their 40s.
Second, the battlefield stress of the overseas dispatched military personnels was distinguishable in lower class officers, an age group in their 20s, and special force agents who carry out duties that are mainly operations. It was shown that the main factor of the battlefield stress is life related factors such as overwork, safety-threatening elements during the mission, and terror threat in the assigned region is distinguishable. For the rest, meteorological factors such as daily temperature range and high temperature and geographical factors such as city and mountains were shown to have affect on the stress. For the field officers, carrying out of their duty, handling of safety and life-threatening factors of the related unit members, and overwhelming duties were identified as the main stress factors.
Third, for all ranks, internal duty stress such as various and complex duty system, dissatisfaction about their duty, and overwhelming amount of the duty were shown related to the carrying out of the duty. Lower rank officers, especially privates, showed highest stress level among the all ranks, military engineer and technology clerks and jerks showed highest stress level among all military service branches, and support as well as administrative duty performing group showed highest stress level among all position. Forth, the stress reaction that overseas dispatched soldiers experience appeared mainly in private and people in their 20s and it is considered that the stress is from the maladjustment and burden due to the lack of experience. The stress reaction usually appeared in the unmarried group, technical clerks and jerks, and support mission fulfillment group and the symptoms were behavioral reactions such as conflict with surrounding people due to the affect of battlefield and duty stress factors, dispute about duty issues and physical reactions such as trouble sleeping, indigestion, and fatigue.
Fifth, the reaction was showed in the order of behavioral, physical, psychological, and stress according to the battlefield and duty stress factors of the overseas dispatched soldiers. Particularly, it was shown that the effect of the reaction changes according to the effect of environmental characteristics, life-threatening factors of the duty, and internal and external factors.
Sixth, it was proven that the social support, action to solve the problem, and personality of the blood type A have management effect that reduce individual stress response in the stress management effect of the mediation factors.
Seventh, the validity and reliability of the research model were proven as the result of the verification of structural equation research model.
The result of the study is that various battlefield and duty stress exist in the assignment scene of the soldiers dispatched overseas and that the factors have great affect on the carrying out of the duty of the soldiers dispatched overseas. In order to solve the problems, the study suggested policy proposals such as the preparation of the systematical stress management in the national measure, systematic improvement of the battlefield stress management, adoption of supporting program, enforcement of the stress education system, and preparation for the predicted PTSD. In addition, it is expected that the commanders in every rank recognize the importance of the stress, seek for the solution continuously, and study about the field actively.
