The present paper outlines the experimental investigation of the dynamic of traffic control tower at Inchon international airport in Yougjong island, and describes characteristics of active vibration control system installed for the first time in Korea to reduce the response arid to enhance the serviceability of control tower. Hybrid mass damper(HMD) is used as the active control vibration system which has two mode designed to be transferred from active mode to passive mode or reversely according to the disturbance magnitude, maximum stroke and control farce and so on.
It is first time to apply the active control device Go the structure in the domestic area. HMD design and installation is the part of Hyundai institute construction & technology, the HMD manufacture is the part of Mitsubishi steel Mfg. Co., Ltd A complete installation and trial running of HMD are scheduled to the August in the 1999.
