AbstractThe concept of family does not have passive structural meaning but it has rather active
and alters meaning as the mode of living changes. We may think that the family concept in Germany can be substituted with the family
concept in Korea. However, they do not identify easily with each other. Koreans do not
classify the concept of family as the basic or foundation unit. They identify or
understand the concept of family as a kin or clan. However, the Germans comprehend
the family as the distinction of sex that holds special relationship as the minimum unit
in the society. The original concept of family in Korea has disintegrated and westernized. However, we
are inadequately prepared for the problem. Now is the time for the experts to research
and study family problems and come up with many counterplans for the future.
Therefore, the study is needed to compare and investigate our family situations with the
family situations in Germany.
