The Slender daggers (細形銅劍)of the Bronze Age in Korea were repeatedly ground to sharpen the edge(劍刃) after being cast. So the attributes of the Slender daggers can be divided into casting attributes (鑄造屬性) and grinding attributes (硏磨屬性). Comparing the Slender daggers with its casting molds, the length of the Slender daggers did not change remarkably but its width narrowed relatively great extent because of the using and grinding. Ridge line(脊稜線), knot(範帶) and side groove(抉入部) also came to be formed during the grinding process. Generally, the grinding method of a tool has a direct relationship with its using method, and the case of the Slender daggers can not be exception. The bifacial ground angles(蛤刃硏磨角) in the upper part and side groove of the Slender daggers are mostly 30∼40 but many of them have wider angle, around 46 in the lower part. The bifacial ground angles between 30 and 40 are formed for making cutting edges but those over 46 are believed to remove slag or to adjust asymmetrical transformation of the body of the Slender daggers by grinding. The bifacial ground angle of the lower part is for the most part over 46 during the early period. The Slender daggers which have the bifacial ground angle under 40 began to increase gradually from the middle period and became popular in the late period. Regarding the Slender daggers in Korea, the expansion of the length of ridge line, giving it a clearer explanation, the expansion of the grinding to the lower part to widen the available cutting edges, reflects the process of improving the capacity for cutting of the Slender daggers. The functional change of the Slender daggers is also reflected in the center of weight of the daggers. The center of weight of the daggers moved gradually from the first knot to the upper part, and the handle decoration tended to become lighter. Therefore it can be said that the center of weight of the Slender daggers transferred from the handle part to the body part. In conclusion, the reason of such changes of the grinding method and the center of the weight is supposed to be related to the transition of the function of the Slender daggers from pierce to cutting.
