For the track racing bicycle for the elite athletes, the lateral stiffness is more important than the vertical stiffness because torque from pedaling is absorbed by the flexible frame. Due to the trust structure of bike frames, vertical stiffness is high enough regardless of the materials. However, lateral stiffness of frames is not easy to increase. Carbon composite is correct material for the track bike frames since the composite is stronger and stiffer and lighter based on the same weight as the other materials.
To increase the lateral stiffness of carbon frames for the professional riders, we increase the packing pressure in the air bladder up to 30bar, which is three times higher than traditional procedure. The results of the approach is right because the specimen of higher pressure is more stiff than that of lower pressure. The illumination of surface as well as the stiffness is proportional to the packing pressure in the bladder.
