      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study focuses on the functional role of social intelligence in developmental disorders, especially autism and learning disorder. In this study various components of social intelligence such as social insight, social sensitivity, social communication, social knowledge are investigated to detect possible flaw in the information processing of children with developmental disorders in social situation The lower social intelligence of autistic disorder can be possibly explained in terms of the Theory of Mind. Children with autism don`t understand that mind is representation. Understanding other`s mind, emotion, intention, and thought is the same cognitive procedure as social sensitivity and social perception in social intelligence. The lack of understanding other`s mind is directly connected to social intelligence. The social intelligence of children with learning disorder were explained by Dodge`s information processing model. At encoding stage, learning disorder children make an mistake inappropriately in encoding social stimulus. Encoding process is analogous to social perception of Wong et al.`s social intelligence model or social sensitivity in Greenspan`s model. The erroneous processing in encoding of social stimulus entails lower social intelligence in learning disorder children. Furthermore, at both response search stage, and response generation and evaluation stages, children with learning disorder also show limit in finding socially accepted strategies and evaluate socially unacceptable strategies as better solutions. All these abilities are similar to social insight and cognitive-flexibility subfactors in Jones and Days social intelligence model. These lower abilities in social information processing of social stimulus are directly related to their lower social intelligence.
