*Seungjunmoo is originated from the drum dance, which is believed that Leehon made it in Koryo-Dynasty. The dance with drum was originally performed in the Court of Koryo-Dynasty, was modified by the official dancing girls of educational institution for *Gisaeng, organized under the provision of the official lady artists of poetry, music and dancing and is understood as a series of *Gyobangmoo today.
Most of the dances, performed in the military base, were generally called as Seungjunmoo. In 1968, however, only the drum dance amongst them was designated as a national cultural assets under the name of Seungjunmoo and further in 1987, Seungjunmoo, as the national cultural assets, was completed by adding the sword-dance.
On analyzing it's dance composition, the features of Drum-Dance of SEUNGJUNMOO are as follows:
1. Based on our traditional folk music, the drum dance is composed of *Yumbool Dodeuri 76beat, *Taryung 48beat, *Goodguri 8beat.
2. To encourage the soldiers, they dance to the song of *Chungmoogong's merit and virtue and dance to the beat of drum.
3. Althuogh *Hansam is on as the dance costume, it contains more movement of folding wrists by using hands and wrists than the movement of throwing arms with Hansam.
