『컬러 퍼플』: 진화론과 가부장제 문화의 이단자들 = The Color Purple: Darwinian Evolution and Cultural Infidels

This paper brings to light the sociobiological implications of the Walkerian ‘womanism’ in The Color Purple, which has been considered a strong objection to patriarchal family relationships. Critical reviews of The Color Purple over the past years have approached from the feminist & queer perspectives Albert’s change into a more sympathetic person, who ends up quitting a self-serving position. By contrast, I am shifting a focus from the degree to which the feminist figures in The Color Purple disapprove patriarchy to what causes the anti-cultural propensity to act out. I made a closer link between Walkerian ‘womanism’ and her antagonism against the father in order to demonstrate that Walker’s serious challenge to the patriarchal family relationships comes from her anger at the scanty parental investment in her, in particular, on her father’s side.
