초등 통합교육과정의 선진화 방향 = The Directions for the Improvement of Elementary Integrated Curriculum

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The integrated curriculum for the elementary school children has beeb improved for over 25 years since the fourth revision of Korean elementary school curriculum in 1982. In this vein of developmental history, four directions through which the elementary integrated curriculum could be further improved have beeb suggested. First, it is necessary that the current interdisciplinary approach that has been based on the subjects has to been changed into the transdisciplinary approach that is based on the developmental level for the first to second graders. Second, a new curricular dimension, what we may term Integrated Activity should be created which integrates the current three integrated subjects. Third, the publication policy for the textbook for the Integrated Activity should change from that the system of national authorization to the one of free publication in order to incorporate the regional needs. Fourth, the evaluation system utilizing portfolio should be expanded in evaluating students` progress in the area of Integrated Activity. Discussing the rationale of the four directions, the author argued that we educators are in the tuning point in which the transdisciplinary approach that reflects maximally children`s interest and needs should be introduced.
