아동청소년의 공동체의식과 학교적응의 관계: 정서문제의 매개효과 = Sense of Community and School Adjustment of Adolescents: Mediating Effect of Emotional Problems

Main objectives of this study are to estimate the level of school adjustment of adolescents in the developmental stages, to examine whether the sense of community predicts emotional problems and school adjustment of adolescents, and finally to identify the mediating effect of emotional problems in the association between sense of community and school adjustment. To obtain study objectives, this study used the data from the Korea Child and Youth Panel Study and selected 2,198 adolescents from the third wave, 2,068 adolescents from the fifth wave, and 1,965 adolescents from the seventh wave of the Elementary 4 Panel Data who responded to every key variables as study population. Structural Equation Modeling was used to test the mediating effect of emotional problems between sense of community and school adjustment. Study results are as follows. First, the level of school adjustment of adolescents was the lowest at the second year of middle school, but the highest at the first year of the high school. Second, sense of community significantly predicted emotional problems and school adjustment of adolescents. Third, emotional problems had significant effect on the association between sense of community and school adjustment as hypothesized. Research and practice implications were discussed based on the study results.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 주요 목적은 아동청소년의 학교적응 수준이 발달시기별로 차이가 있는지를 알아보고, 공동체의식이 학교적응과 정서문제에 영향을 미치는지와 정서문제가 공동체의식과 학교적응의 관계를 매개하는지를 규명하여 학교적응을 향상시키기 위한 예방 및 개입 방안의 토대를 마련하는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원이 실시한 한국아동‧청소년패널조사 자료 가운데 초4패널 3차(2012년 초6), 5차(2014년 중2), 7차(2016년 고1) 자료를 활용하였으며 연구모형의 변인에 결측치가 없는 3차 2,198명, 5차 2,068명, 7차 1,965명의 아동청소년을 분석대상으로 하였다. 구조방정식모형을 활용하여 공동체의식, 정서문제, 학교적응의 관계구조를 확인하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 첫째, 아동청소년의 학교적응 수준은 중2 때 가장 낮았으며 고1 때 가장 높았다. 둘째, 공동체의식은 정서문제와 학교적응에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 공동체의식과 학교적응의 관계에서 정서문제가 매개하는 것으로 나타났으며 매개효과를 분해하였을 때 정서문제는 부분매개인 것으로 밝혀졌다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 실천적 함의를 제시하였다.
