정보기술 위협 회피요인이 사용자의 회피행동에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

성공적인 IT 도입과 활용을 위해 그동안 많은 정보시스템(Information System: IS) 연구들은 정보기술수용(Information Technology Acceptance: TAM)에 초점을 맞춰왔다. 그러나 IT가 풍부한 내용과 편리한 사용방법을 제공함으로 IT의 핵심 요인인 유용성과 이용용이성에 대한 중요성은 점점 약해지고 있다. 오히려 사이버테러의 위험, 바이러스의 피해, 해킹, 개인정보유출, 정보격차, 기타 사이버 범죄와 같은 정보화의 역기능을 정보기술 위협 회피(information technology threat avoidance) 측면에서 살펴보는 것이 중요하다. 물론 이러한 악성 IT(malicious IT)의 위협을 줄이는 방법은 안티바이러스, 안티스파이웨어 소프트웨어와 같은 보안 IT(safeguarding IT)를 수용한다는 측면에서는 기존의 정보기술수용이론을 적용할 수도 있다. 실제로 많은 IS 연구자들이 이러한 연구를 수행하였고 보안 IT의 수용이 악성 IT의 회피와 같다고 보는 시각도 많다. 그러나 강력한 이론적이고 실무적 증거들이 수용과 회피 행동 사이에 근본적인 차이가 있음을 보여준다(Carver and White 1994; Elliot 2006; Elliot and Covington 2001).
예를 들어 사람들이 e-mail을 통해 퍼진 바이러스를 피하려면 바이러스를 위협으로 지각하고 방화벽을 작동하거나 안티바이러스 소프트웨어를 업데이트해야 할 것이다. 만약 방화벽을 작동시킨다면 악성 IT를 피하기 위해 보안 IT를 채택하는 것이 되는데, 이러한 접근은 위협에 대한 평가와 대안적 회피 행동을 고려하지 못하고 있기 때문에 부분적으로만 회피 상황을 이해할 수 있다. 무엇보다 IT 보안 상황의 궁극적인 목적은 특정 보안 IT를 채택하는 것보다 IT 위협을 회피하는 것이다. 보안 IT의 채택은 그 목적을 이룰 하나의 수단일 뿐이다. 따라서 회피에 초점을 맞춘 더 넓은 접근이 상황의 완전한 이해를 얻기 위해 수행될 필요가 있다. IT 위협에 대한 회피 행동은 비단 악성 IT에 대한 대처 행동을 이해하는데 이용될 뿐만 아니라 특정 IT의 사용에 있어서 개인이 지각하는 위협요인들과 회피행동을 설명한다.
그러나 아직 IS문헌 중 IT 사용자들의 위협 회피 행동을 설명할 연구들이 충분하지 않기 때문에 본 논문은 심리학(Psychology), 의학(health care), 리스크 분석(risk analysis), 정보시스템 분야의 문헌들을 종합하여 연구를 보강하고자 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 정보기술위협회피이론(Technology Threat Avoidanc

The information society in the 21st century is rapidly changing the overall paradigm of business and society as well as the environment of individuals from the development of internet and information & telecommunications technology. Presently, these are creating an enormous value in the national economy and industries as they are rapidly diffused throughout the industries such as distribution, finance, stock trade, auction, entertainment, and delivery service. Especially for businesses, the information technology (IT) is not an issue of selection but the general trend that can not go against for the sake of survival. In other words, this seems to tell that it can be a fatal threat to the business unable to use IT and can be a great opportunity to the business of using IT appropriately. Likewise, internet and IT have brought about a large change as to be regarded as an innovation in the entire society and individuals and businesses have tried hard to adopt and use IT so as to adapt to this change.
