가출청소년이 지각한 의사소통능력 및 가족갈등이 자아존중감에 미치는 영향 = The Effects of Communication Capability and Family Conflict to Self-esteem in Runaway Adolescents

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships of communication capability, family conflict, and self-esteem in runaway adolescents. Furthermore, this study aimed to examine the effects of communication capability and family conflict on self-esteem. Data on 65 adolescents residing in 8 runaway youth shelters located in Seoul and the Gyeonggi province were analyzed. Results showed that self-esteem scores were positively related to communication capability, but was not significantly related to family conflict. The results also indicated that perceived communication capability was a significant predictor of self-esteem, after controlling age and gender. The findings reveal the diverse needs of runaway adolescents and the importance of communication capability as a potential target for counseling and intervention for these adolescents.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 가출청소년이 지각한 의사소통능력 및 가족갈등과 자아존중감 간의 관계를 살펴보며, 자아존중감에 대한 이들 변인들의 설명력을 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구를 위하여 서울과 경기도 지역에 소재한 8곳의 쉼터에 입소한 가출청소년들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 65명의 가출청소년의 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과를 살펴보면, 자아존중감은 의사소통능력과 유의미한 정적 상관을 보인 반면 가족갈등과 유의미한 관계를 보이지 않았다. 가출청소년이 지각한 의사소통능력은 연령과 성별 변인을 통제한 이후에도 자아존중감에 유의하게 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 쉼터에 입소한 가출청소년의 특성이 다양함을 인식하고, 의사소통능력과 같은 개인적 변인을 고려하여 가출청소년을 위한 상담 및 중재프로그램을 활용할 것을 시사하고 있다.
