청소년의 학업스트레스와 자살생각과의 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과 및 조절효과 분석 = The Mediating and Moderating Effects of Self-Esteem in the Relationship between Academic Stress and Suicidal Ideation among

This study analyzed how academic stress influences on suicidal ideation among adolescents, and investigated the path from academic stress to suicidal ideation by setting adolescents’self-esteem and depression as mediators. For this purpose, the survey conducted targeted a total of 9,300 elementary, middle and high school students. Results are as follows: First, there appears to be a positive correlation between academic stress, depression and suicidal ideation. However, there were negative correlations between academic stress and self-esteem, as well as self-esteem and suicidal ideation. Second, in gender differences, female students had higher average scores than those of male students in academic stress, depression and suicidal ideation. In terms of age differences, however, as participants got older, self-esteem decreased while academic stress, depression and suicidal ideation increased. Third, the path model was fit for the data and self-esteem worked as a moderator in the relationship between academic stress and depression.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구에서는 청소년들의 학업스트레스와 자살생각과의 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과와 조절효과를 분석하였다. 조사대상은 초․중․고등학생 총 9,300명(남: 4,794명, 여: 4,506명)을 대상으로 하였다. 구체적인 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학업스트레스와 우울감 및 자살생각 간에 정적인 관계성을 나타낸 반면 자아존중감과 우울감 및 자살생각 간에는 부적인 상관관계를 보였다. 둘째, 연구변인들에 대한 성별, 교급별 차이 검증 결과 학업스트레스, 우울감 및 자살생각 모두 여학생의 평균이 더 높았고, 자아존중감은 남학생의 평균이 더 높았다. 교급별 차이 검증에서는 교급이 높아질수록 자아존중감은 낮아지는 반면, 학업스트레스, 우울감 및 자살생각은 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 학업스트레스와 우울감 간의 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과가 나타났다. 마지막으로 자아존중감이 학업스트레스와 우울감 간의 관계에서 조절효과를 보였다. 이상의 연구결과를 토대로 시사점과 추후 연구를 제안하였다.
