조건부가치추정을 통한 병역제도 설계 = 급여와 복무 기간을 중심으로

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The main concern of this study is to design the conscription system, which consists of salary and military service term in perspective of the duty imposed. It is possible to examine acceptable amount of salary and service term by calculating the willingness to accept (WTA) and the willingness to stay (WTS). We get data from survey and estimate the logistic regression model to calculate the WTA and the WTS. Sample for the survey isboth male and female aged 20~30 years living at Daegu, which is the 3rd largest city of Korea. The estimation results of this study are summarized as follows; first, the WTA for special Army (Kyuck-O-Ji in Korean) is the highest, about $3,000 per month. The WTA for other Army and Air Force is about $2,700 per month. Also, it is interesting that the WTA for Navy is higher than that for other Army and Air Force. Second, there is no significant difference in WTSs for six types of military service. This is partly due to the difficulty of answering for the questionaries on WTS. However, the WTS is found to be 20~22 months on average.
