국립중앙박물관 내·외부 유휴공간의 활용성 개선에 관한 연구 = A Study on Space Usability Improvement of National Museum of Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study proposed the direction of basic plan for space usability improvement of the National Museum of Korea as follows. First, to seek for a maximization method of linking and using the internal and external spaces, this study aimed to modify the visitor routes and provide various viewing methods so that the museum would be completed by visitor experiences, as a space of “interacting with visitors” and an “open city museum” for taking a walk. In addition, this study proposed ways of maximizing the space usability of museum: improve the accessibility by increasing the points of contact between the external space and the city (e.g., linking the external space with relevant facilities nearby) as a part of “connecting the places”; and “modifying other unused spaces” internally. Based on this, a master plan was proposed. First, the external space of vast size, which had a long and boring traffic line that had been neglected, was divided into four areas of A-pavilion, B-floor pattern, C-memorial hall, and D-wall observation platform, and the internal space was divided into three areas of E-floating ceiling, F-cultural heritage street, and G-observatory type rest space for a design that can be reflected to improve the main hall and solve the problem of low visibility of information facilities and amenities such as lounges. Based on these, respective programs and perspective drawings were proposed. In addition, plans for linking with the changed surrounding urban environment and adjacent relevant facilities were reviewed in order to propose a plan for the National Museum of Korea to increase the convenience of visitors and improve the satisfaction, as a space that has identity and philosophy corresponding to the consciousness level improvement of citizens.
