생산 활동 수준과 성공적인 노화에 미치는 영향 = The Relationship Between Productive Activities and Successful Aging Among the aged

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The levels of productive activities as represented by three dimensions, (1) economic activities, (2) formal activities, (3) informal/solitary activities among the aged and the relationship between productive activities and successful aging were examined. The successful aging was defined and measured as an ego-integrity by Erikson's theory. There were 231 respondents who were 65 years old and over from the Welfare Center for the Elderly at Ilsan, Kyunggi-do and lots of college students' grandparents at Metropolitan areas. They answered a self-administered questionnaire which consisted of 16 items of ego-integrity scale developed by Ryff and Heincke, 9 items of productive activities questions (Cronbach's α=0.81) developed by this researcher, some selected socio-demographic questions(10 items), and 1 self-reported health question. The formal activities consist of voting, attending Community Centers for the Elderly, affiliating groups, and volunteering. The informal/solitary activities compose of contacting with close friends, doing household chores, helping adult-children and doing hobbies. The mean scores of productive activities in general samples were 56.7. Eight socio-demographic variables, such as, gender, spouse, education, religion, former job, pocket money, and health, brought the differences in the level productive activities except religion and age. There were no gender differences in the two variables, attending Community Centers for the Elderly, and contacting with close friends, but differences in 6 other variables. There was a positive linear relationship between successful aging and productive activities. There were gender differences in successful aging, but not age differences in both variables. The elderly women's successful aging scores were lower than those of counterparts. Suggestions for future study include random sampling, the exhaustiveness of productive activities, the scale of successful aging, and the use of path analysis for further research.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

노인의 생산활동을 구성해서 생산활동의 수준을 살펴본 후, 생산활동이 성공적인 노화에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. 선행연구 고찰을 통해 생산활동은 유급의 경제활동, 공식 활동, 비공식 활동의 셋으로 나누고, 공식 활동에는 외부적인 활동들로서 65세가 된 이후 선거가 있을 때마다 투표에 참여한 정도, 복지관이나 노인대학 등에의 참여 정도, 가입단체 참여 정도, 자원봉사 활동 정도의 네 가지 활동을, 비공식 활동에는 친구 만나기, 가사일 참여하기, 성인자녀 도와주기, 취미생활의 네 활동으로 구성하였다. 생산활동의 수준을 분석한 결과 231명의 전체 응답자 중 21.2%인 49명이 유급의 경제활동을 하고 있었고, 생산활동의 평균 점수는 15.30으로 백분율로 환산하면 56.7점에 해당된다. 9개의 활동 중에서 복지관이나 노인대학 등에 다니는 정도와 친구를 만나는 정도에서는 남녀노인간 차이가 없었고 그 외의 다른 활동에서는 성차를 나타내었다. 전후기 노인으로 나눈 분석에서는 가사활동 참여정도에서 나이차가 있었고, 다른 활동에서는 나이에 따른 차이가 없었다. 자아통합으로 측정한 성공적인 노화는 여느 다른 연구에서처럼 여성노인의 점수가 의미있게 낮았으며, 생산활동과 성공적인 노화 두 변수간에는 미약한 정적인 상관관계가 있었다. 성별과 나이에 따른 두 변수간 관계분석에서는 여성노인과 전기노인 집단에서 유급의 경제활동이 성공적인 노화의 예측변수로 밝혀졌고, 전체노인에서는 아무런 관계가 없었다. 외부 사회활동에 해당되는 공식적 활동이 성공적인 노화에 미치는 영향은 어느 집단에서도 발견되지 않았고, 비공식 활동의 영향은 남자노인에서만 발견되었다. 본 연구에 포함된 여러 변수들의 영향력 분석에서는 용돈과 건강이, 생산활동을 9개의 범주로 나눈 분석에서는 유급활동과 복지관이나 노인대학에 다니기, 취미생활이 성공적인 노화의 영향변수로 드러났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 몇 가지 측면에서 논의를 하였고 연구의 한계를 지적하였다.
