근대시의 출현과 존재 방식 = The Emergence of Modern Poetry and Its Way of Existence

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper aims to shed new light on the issue of `modernity` from the spot where modern poetry emerged and raise a fundamental question in the existing research from the perspective that it examined the emergence and aspects of modern poetry focusing on the formation of modern subject. When the process of reaching to modern free verse passing through the New Style Poetry(Shinchesi) is considered only from the dimension of a `style`, the aesthetical shape of an unstable and dynamic modern subject during the period when the modern poetry was appeared could go unobserved. Also, a developmental view the history of style is considering, cannot clear away the suspicion of fixing the issue of modern subjectivity as an ex post facto in a way that the week subjectivity in classical poetry was set with the emergence of modern free verse. In this aspect, the question raised by this paper, `the fatal linearity` a development scheme based on divisibility `from enlightenment to lyricism` or `from fixed verse to free verse` has, demands to look back at the spot where the modern poetry was emerged. The modern subject of this period showed an active side of judging the world and acting and a passive side of regressing into its inside at the same time. Then came the issue of Sijo. In fact, modern Sijo has been excluded from the research of modern poetry. It is because a modern Sijo was difficult to be examined from the perspective of both `modern poetry` and `classical poetry.` A modern Sijo was an exceptional phenomenon from the history of style and was also off from the developmental perspective. This paper intended to look at Sijo from the viewpoint of the formation of a modern subject deviating the standpoint of the history of style as much as possible. In this respect, it tries to examine modern Sijo by incorporating it into the history of modern poetry. Such history of modern Sijo is also a distinct trace of regulating the way of modern poetry in a diverse way.
