      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This research investigated cognitive types of English verb realizations among Koreans, identifying three distinct types: Type 1, ‘Conative Acceptance,’ includes Conative verbs (Patterns 2 and 3) that allow semantic withdrawal through negation, contrasting with Fulfilled verbs in Patterns 1 and 4, which resist such withdrawal. Type 2, ‘Conative + Pattern 4 Acceptance,’ involves Patterns 2, 3, and 4, all allowing negation, while Pattern 1 is characterized as solely Fulfilled. Type 3, ‘Conative + Fulfilled Acceptance,’ encompasses all patterns with negation capabilities, but Patterns 1 and 4 show significant resistance to withdrawal. Using Q methodology, this study identified unique traits for each type and explored correlations. The findings reveal the impact of native language interference in shaping these cognitive classifications among Korean speakers’ understanding of English verbs.
