2000-2014년 기간 한국과 EU의 무역 비용과 무역 증가 요인 분석 = Measuring Trade Costs and Decomposing the Growth of Trade between Korea and EU

Building on the methodology suggested by Novy(2013) and using World Input Output Database, this paper measures the relative bilateral trade costs between Korean and the European Union. The relative bilateral trade costs of manufacturing sector between Korea and EU 28 member countries, on average, decline by 6.8 percentage points for the period from 2000 to 2014. Furthermore, we decompose the growth of trade into three components, namely, changes in income, bilateral trade costs and multilateral resistance. We find that the growth of trade between Korea and EU is driven mainly by the growth of income and the reduction of bilateral trade costs.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

국내거래와 국제거래의 차이를 이용하는 Novy(2013) 방법에 따라 세계투입산출 데이터를 이용하여 2000-2014년 기간 한국과 EU 회원국의 무역비용을 측정하였다. 제조업의 경우 한국과 EU 28개 회원국과의 무역비용은 2014년 108.2%로 2000-2014년 기간 약 6.8% 포인트 감소한 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 2000-2014년 기간 한국과 EU 회원국 간 무역의변화를 소득, 양자 간 무역비용 및 다자간 저항성의 변화라는 세 가지 요인으로 분해하였는데, 소득 및 양자 간 무역비용이 한국과 EU 회원국 간 무역 증가를 견인한 주된 요인으로분석되었다. 제3국과의 무역비용을 나타내는 다자간 저항성은 제조업과 1차 산업의 무역에상이한 방향으로 영향을 미친 것으로 분석되었는데, 다자간 저항성으로 한국과 EU의 제조업 무역이 감소하는 무역전환효과가 발생한 반면에 1차 산업은 한국과 EU의 무역이 증가하는 요인으로 작용되었다.
