기업 지식재산권 보유의 효과분석 = Intellectual Property Rights and firm performance

국문 초록 (Abstract)

지식기반사회에서 기술 등의 혁신은 국가와 기업의 성장을 위한 중요한 요인으로 인식되고 있다. 혁신활동, 연구 중심의 산업에서는 R&D 결과물에 대한 지식재산권 등의 권리확보 가 중요하며, 확보된 지식재산권은 기업 경쟁우위의 원천으로 작용한다. 그동안 기업의 지 식재산권 중 특허권 관련 연구가 주를 이루어왔는데, 본 연구에서는 특허권과 더불어 디자 인권, 상표권 등 기업의 지식재산권 전반의 보유현황을 파악하는 한편, 패널분석을 통해 지식재산권이 기업의 경제적 성과에 영향을 미치는지 확인하고자 하였다. 분석 결과 지식재 산권 보유규모, 권리보유의 복합성은 기업의 경제적 성과에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 확인되었다. 기업규모별로 비교한 결과, 중소기업에서의 지식재산권 보유의 효과가 대기업 ⋅중견기업의 약 45% 수준으로 분석되어 중소기업의 지식재산 경쟁력 강화를 위한 노력이 요구된다. 본 연구는 기업의 지식재산권 보유의 효과를 정량적으로 확인하였다는 데에 의의 가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In a knowledge-based society, ‘innovation’ is recognized as the most important factor for national and corporate growth. In innovation-driven and research-oriented industries, it is important to acquire rights such as intellectual property rights for R & D output, and the acquired intellectual property rights serve as a source of competitive advantage.
In previous studies, investigations on patent rights have been mainly conducted. The pur pose of this study was to determine whether intellectual property rights affect the econom ic performance of a company. As a result, the study showed firms that own more in tellectual property rights generate more revenue, and the association with higher revenue per employee is less pronounced for SMEs than large companies. The result of the study also showed that the complexity of intellectual property rights (use of the various types of intellectual property rights) had a positive effect on the firm’s economic performance.
