      It is often said that we are facing a new era of civilizational turnover. In this sense the educational reform recently led by Korean government would be estimated appropriate enough to cope with numerous educational problems. This paper was written to speculate about the career education of secondary school in relation to the educational reform and to suggest overall directions of the secondary career education.
      Firstly, the directions of career education were explored with the focus on the coming era of information under the principle of open paradigm, including the reform of school curricula.
      Secondly, the directions were suggested in order for secondary education to be responsive to the era of diversity , including the open career education by way of the creative approach beyond the traditional method and the use of diverse vocational information and experiences.
      Thirdly, the directions were considered for the preparation of the era of humanity associated with the pursuit of self-realization and common good. In this respect, the secondary career education needs to put its emphasis on the affective domain of individual career development, including self-understanding activities.
      Lastly, the tasks for the enhancement of secondary career education were proposed as listed: the reform of parents' values and consciousness on their offsprings' career; the transition to the open education system, i. e., the life-long learning system; the establishment of career education system at each school level; and the school administrators' and teachers' determination toward career education.

In this sense the educational reform recently led by Korean government would be estimated appropriate enough to cope with numerous educational problems.
