      In this study, we analized the kinematic and kinetic variances according to the hip joint movements in vertical jump performances after confirming that hip joint movements significantly affect the vertical jump performances in a variety of sports. The subjects performed three types of jumps : vertical jumps using countermovement(CMJ, countermovement jump), vertical jumps without countermovement(SJ, squat jump) and squat jump with large trunk motion(SJTM). All the jumps were analyzed with the 3D motion analysis system and the results are as follows. The center of gravity(COG) in SJTM was 8 % higher than that in SJ. During the extension in hip joint, maximum angular velocity and maximum angular acceleration were significantly higher in SJTM than in SJ. During the extension in hip joint, moment was higher in SJTM than in SJ. Maximum moment was higher in SJTM than in SJ during the vertical jump. However, the impulse was not significantly different in SJTM and SJ so it meant that the impulse was not related to the height of COG in squat jumps.
