Cord hematoma is rare complication of pregnancy. At present, only 58 cases have been reported in the literature, including the 36 cases reviewed by Dippel. The perinatal mortality rate approaches 50% by literature. Various causes of the cord hematoma have been suggested as congenital abnormalities, short cord, trauma, cord around neck, torsion, premature rupture of membranes, syphillis, or postmature pregnancy. We have experienced one case of the intrauterine death from umbilical cord hematoma, which is presented with a brief review of the literatures.
