자전적 글쓰기의 이론과 실제

국문 초록 (Abstract)

세계적으로 자서전에 대한 관심이 확산되고 있다. 평범한 사람들도 자서전을 쓰고 있으며, 작가들의 ‘자전적 글쓰기’ 붐은 지속적으로 증가추세를 보이고 있다. 독일어권 영역도 예외는 아니다. 특히 독일 통일 이후 자전적 문학작품들이 폭발적으로 증가하고 있다. 제 2세대 유대인 작가들은 새로운 방식으로 홀로코스트를 주제화하고 있으며, 구동독 출신 작가들은 DDR를 기억하는 자전문학도 활성화되고 있다. 독일에서 ‘자전적 글쓰기’는 처음에는 주로 젊은 세대의 전유물처럼 보였다. 하지만 이제는 작가와 독자, 구세대와 신세대, 전문적인 문학 종사자나 평범한 사람 등등에 상관없이 많은 사람들의 관심이 집중되어 있다. 우리나라에서도 자서전과 자전적 글쓰기에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 현재의 자서전과 ‘자전적 글쓰기’의 붐은 일시적인 현상이 아니며, 또한 단순히 개인의 인생사에 대한 기록만은 아니다. 자서전에서 ‘자전적 글쓰기’로 발전하는 과정에는 오랜 역사적 배경이 있으며, 그 형식과 내용 또한 시대적으로 변하면서 시대정신을 반영한다. 자서전의 역사는 인간정신의 역사이다.
서양에서 자서전의 원조는 두말할 것도 없이 기독교 신을 향한 신앙고백서인 성 아우구스티누스 Aurelius Augustinus의 『고백록 Confessiones』(397-398)이다. 아우구스티누스의 『고백록』은 ‘인생에 대한 지속적인 서술과 여기에 대한 서술자자신의 성찰’이라는 의미에서 자서전의 단초가 된다. 그 후 자서전에 대한 본격적 관심이 시작된 시기는 18세기이다. 18세기의 자서전은 시민계급의 등장과 ‘소설의 부흥 Aufschwung des Romans’이라는 시대적 배경 속에서 탄생되는데, 이 시기의 자서전은 오늘날의 자전적 글쓰기의 출발점이 된다. 본 연구에서는 ‘자전적 글쓰기’의 역사 및 이론과 변천과정을 탐구함으로써 자전문학 연구의 단초를 마련하고, 나아가 ‘자서전’과 ‘자전적 글쓰기’의 전망을 가늠해보는 것이다.
제 1차년도 연구에서는 18세기에서 20세기까지 전통적인 의미의 ‘자서전 Autobiographie’에서 ‘오토픽션 Autofiktion’이라는 새로운 자서전 이론이 등장하는 사회적 문화적 배경을 추적하게 된다. 나아가 현재의 ‘자전적 글쓰기 Autobiographisches Schreiben’를 중심으로 문학의 공적 기능과 자전문학에 있어서 ‘사실’과 ‘문학적 허구성’의 관계를 고찰한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Recently even common people as well as well-known people write autobiography, and authors’ autobiographical writings have been increasing. German sphere is not an exception. Especially after the german reunification, autobiographical literature has been growing explosively. The most important subject of the current autobiographical writings is the Holocaust. The second generation of Jewish authors writes about the Holocaust in a new perspective and writers from East Germany reminisce DDR in forms of autobiographical literary works. At first, ‘autobiographical writing’ seemed to be solely the preserve of the young generation. However, it began to attract a variety of people whether they are authors or readers, old or new generation, professionals or amateurs. In South Korea, interest in autobiographies and autobiographical writing is growing. This is not a temporary phenomenon, and itself is not just the record of an individual’s life history. There is a long historical background on how ‘autobiographical writing’ developed from autobiography, and its form and content reflect the zeitgeist as autobiographies change over time. The history of autobiography can be seen as the history of human spirit.
The origin of autobiography in the western world is of course <Confessiones(397-398
