This paper aims to analyze the impact of career decision level -measured by high school students' decision on their future major and information level- on the level of satisfaction on their college and major decision and the level of academic adjustment. Based on previous literature, this paper takes intrinsic motivation in major decision as mediating variable.
The authors carried out multiple regression analysis on the impact of individual and family variables including career decision level of high school students on their college satisfaction and adaptability level, while deployed path analysis in order to analyze the relationship between the career decision level, intrinsic motivation, and college satisfaction and adaptability level.
The results of statistical analyses show that career decision level of high school students indirectly influences the college and major satisfaction and academic adjustment level, mediated by the impact of intrinsic motivation.
Implications of these results are discussed for the change in contents of vocational guidance and - counseling.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 고등학교 3학년 재학생을 대상으로 측정한 진로결정수준이 이들이 대학 진학 후 측정한 대학 및 선택학과에 대한 만족도와 학문적 적응도에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 그 관계에서 학과선택에 대한 내적동기가 어떤 역할을 하는지를 밝히는 것이다.대학 및 선택학과에 대한 만족도와 학문적 적응도에 미치는 개인 및 가정변인들의 영향을 분석하기 위해서 회귀분석을 수행하였으며, 고등학생의 진로결정수준, 학과선택의 내적동기, 대학에서의 만족도 및 적응도간의 관계를 분석하기 위해서는 경로모형분석을 수행하였다. 분석결과 고등학생의 진로결정수준은 실제 대학 진학 시 학과선택에 미치는 내적동기의 영향력 요인을 매개로 할 때 대학 및 학과에 대한 만족도와 학문적 적응도에 정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 대학 및 학과에 대한 만족도를 높이고 학문적 적응력을 높이는 데에는 고등학교의 진로결정수준뿐 아니라 대학진학 시 학과선택의 내적동기 역시 중요한 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 시사한다.
