In Korean society, there has been a rapid growth of multi-cultural families due to the increase of immigrant females to get married with Korean husbands in the last 10 years. Difficulties in communication resulting from language differences are the most distressing issue which the multi-cultural families face. Language problems are painful not only to the married immigrant wives but also to their Korean family members. It causes family trouble and can lead to the family break-up crisis. For married immigrants and their children, Korean is used to accomplish the real life tasks, and it is also necessary to be used for their survival. Therefore educational materials in Korean language should be developed, focusing on the real-life language and the local language which are closely related to the lives of married immigrants in Korea. Korean cultural education should also be designed and conducted considering their ways of living. By doing these, Korean language education can directly help the multi-cultural families. In conclusion, educational contents in Korean language for multi-cultural families should be designed to consider the family's surroundings and current problems, contributing to the establishment of self-identity and helping to resolve the multi-cultural family difficulties.
