중등도 이상의 장애를 가진 청소년의 사회적 능력 측정: 척도 개발을 위한 기초 연구 = Development of Social Competence Scale for Adolescents with Moderate and/or Serious Disabilities(SCSAD): Initial reliability and validity

The purpose of this study was to develop a social competence scale for adolescents with moderate and/or serious disabilities, and to test its initial reliability and validity. For this purpose, initial scale items were first developed based on Katz & McClellan (1997)'s theory on social competence. According to the authors, social competence has four components, emotion regulation, social knowledge and understanding, social skill, and social disposition. For the content validity, the initial items were throughly reviewed by experts in the related fields and disciplines. To prove internal consistency and construct validity of the measure, the data collected from 437 members of Parents' Solidarity of Children with Disabilities in Kyunggi Province were utilized. The Cronbach's α values for the four subscales and the entire measure were all above .76, demonstrating good levels of internal consistency. In addition, the fit indices of the confirmatory factor analysis for the four factor model all indicated that the data fit the model well. Thus it can be said that the empirical evidence on construct validity of the measure was obtained. It should also be noticed that the metric invariance tests showed that the measure worked equally well for males and females and also for adolescents with intellectual disabilities and those without the disabilities.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 중등도 이상의 장애를 가진 청소년들의 사회적 능력을 측정하는 척도를 개발하고 기본적인 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 연구자는 사회적 능력이라는 개념이 ‘감정조절,’ ‘사회적 지식과 이해,’ ‘사회기술,’ ‘사회적 성향’이라는 4개 요소로 이루어져 있다고 본 Katz와 McCllellan(1997)의 이론에 근거하여 척도문항을 개발한 후 대학원생들과의 토론을 통해 수정 작업을 진행하며 척도의 안면타당도를 확립하고자 하였다. 이렇게 개발된 척도초안은 내용타당도 검증을 위해 2차례에 걸쳐 전문가 검토를 받았다. 1차전문가 검토를 바탕으로 척도초안이 상당부분 수정 보완되었으며 2차 전문가 검토에서 적절하다고 판단된 문항만이 조사도구에 포함되어 자료수집에 활용되었다. 척도의 내적일관성 신뢰도와 구성 타당도를 검증하기 위해 경기도장애인부모연대 소속 회원 437명을 대상으로 수집된 자료에 대한 분석을 실시하였다. 척도의 내적 일관성정도를 보여주는 Cronbach α 값은 네 개의 하위차원 및 전체 척도 모두 .70을 크게 상회할 정도로 양호한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 확인적 요인분석을 실시한 결과, 본 척도의 4개 하위요인 모형이 만족스러운 수준의 모형 적합도를 가지고 있는 것으로 나타나 척도의 구성타당도에 대한 경험적 근거를 확보할 수 있었다. 뿐만 아니라 추가적으로 실시된 다집단 확인적 요인분석결과는 본 척도가 성별과 지적장애 여부에 상관 없이 유용하게 사용될 수 있음을 보여주었다. 본 연구를 통해 개발된 척도는 중등도 이상의 장애를 가진 청소년들의 사회적 능력을 이해하고 관련변수를 규명하는데 많은 기여를 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
