Despite the popularity of decision support systems over the last decade, the issue of supporting individual decision markers has been questioned. More recently, the role of supporting multiple decision makers has been addressed in the research of group decision support systems. However, there is no clear indication on whether their proposed systems can support decision-marking in the organizational context. In this paper, we first contrast organizational decision making with individual and group decision making, in order to identify requirements of computer support for organizational decision making. The requirements derived indicate several characteristics which are to be considered in the design of organizational decision support systems. Then, we present an approach for modeling problem-solving work for these systems. The application of this approach is illustrated with a simplistic 'scenario'of organizational decision-making situations.
