In this study, game industry promotion policies related to game age rating included in the government’s
'Comprehensive Game Industry Promotion Plan (CGIPP)' are analyzed and policy implications are derived. The
implications of the causal map analysis are as follows. First, it is necessary to alleviate the burden of rating process by conducting game evaluation in a way that responds to the checklist. Second, the adequacy of the rating review should be thoroughly verified after the game rating review. To this end, it is necessary to put in efforts to update the checklist and verify the results of the evaluation. Third, it is necessary to support game companies that do not benefit from the policies presented in CGIPP to improve game content or use multiple platforms. Finally, it is necessary to rearrange functions among agencies in charge of game-related tasks. In other words, the ‘Game Rating and Administration Committee’ and the ‘Game Content Rating Board’ should be mainly responsible for updating checklists for rating, post-verification of ratings, and supporting small game companies. In addition, the primary game rating deliberation should be mainly performed by the self-rating companies.
