'신라정신新羅情神'의 특징 거론에 대한 성찰 = A Reflections on the Characteristics of the Spirit of Silla

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 일반적으로 ‘신라정신新羅情神"이라 거론되는 특징들을 성찰해 보는 것에 목적이 있다. 여기서 말하는 ‘성찰’ 이란 종래의 논의를 재음미해보고 반성하는 것을 말한다.
최근 경상북도를 위시한 경주등지에서 지역의 정체성을 찾을 경우 대게 ‘화랑花郞’문제를 포함한 ‘신라정신’운운하는 것을 볼 수 있다. 이렇게 신라에 대한 주목과 재음미론이 나오는 것은 사실 현재의 일만이 아니고 일제강점기, 해방이후 이승만 및 박정희 정권기로 이어니즌 이른 바 ‘북고구려 정신’에 대항하는 ‘남-신라정신’의 확립과 계승이라는 정치사적인 측면을 갖는다.
천년왕국이었던 신라는 문물교류를 통해 여러 나라의 문화를 받아들였으며. 한반도 정치ㆍ경제ㆍ문화의 중심이 되었다. 또 천년 전 통일신라는 신라방, 해상무역네트워크, 실크로드를 통해 아랍권으로부터 6개월이라는 짧은 시간에 장신구를 수입하였으며, 철기를 수출하였다는 등의 사실史實을 확인할 수 있다. 이러한 신라의 특성은 포용성개발성국제성ㆍ자유성ㆍ다양성ㆍ융합성ㆍ조화성이 공존한 사회였다고 평가되는 것처럼, 우리 역사상에서 특별한 의미를 갖고 있다.
물론 거기에는 정치사사적인의미도 해석도 관여해 있지만, 적어도 신라정신을 현실의 맥락에서 다시 인식, 수용하고자 한다면, 취사선택할 점을 제대로 평가하고, 그것을 지속적으로 발전시켜 갈 지혜가 필요하다. 그렇지 못하다면 나날이 퇴락하는 듯한 현재 경주의 모습처럼 ‘신라정신’ 운운의 논의도 실효성 없는 ‘과거에 대한 낭만적 회상’에 불과할 것이다.
더욱이 ‘신라정신’ 운운이 지차제의 근시안적인 사업차원이나 정치권의 알팍한 지역생 이데올로기 확보를 위한 논리전개를 넘어서서, 통일신라의 해외 무역로와 실크로드의 문화, 정보 네트워크 등을 어떤 방식으로 깊이 있고도 새롭게 인식해야 하는가를 다시 성찰하는 일에서 출발하는 냉정함이 필요할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This is a reflections on the characteristics of the spirit of silla.
In Gyeongsangbukdo province and Gyongju recently have been actively discussed for finding its identity. If so, traditionally, they usually pay attention to some concepts, Hwarang, Silla, Gyongju and so on.
Paying attention to the Hwarang Silla, Gyongju originates from the Japanese colonial era. After that , this tradition continues, even after the liberation in 1945, president Lee Sung-man and PARK Chung-hee, now days. South Korea respect the spirit of Silla face the North Korea’s policy respecting in Koguryo. We can not be ignore the historical background of these political ideas.
Silla was a kingdom that lasted one thousand years. They trade with the Arab world through a network of international marine transportation. Such as that, Silla is progressive, and has opened mind. Many students went to study in the Tang Dynasty of China. And Silla has an open discussion institutions as Hwabak. This tradition needs to be reviewed agin in nowday also.
However, overemphasizing th espirit of Silla only is no right. Because we must respect Goguryeo, Baekje’s sprit and tradition buried in our history too. We habe to do not lost the balance is a very important problem in our society. Because, in the history of Korea, Silla is very important, but not in Korea only Silla history.
