Creativity is a unique quality appearing in the performative actions by human and their results. Based on the concept of creativity, this dissertation, in terms of dance educational psychology, aims to examine the factors of the personal qualities that influence dance performance and the essence of dance-creativity that influences these "qualities."
In order to achieve this goal, this study defines the elements of general creativity as 4P (process, product, person, and press), that is, creative process, creative product, creative person or personality, and creative press or environment. On these basic concepts, this study describes "artistic creativity" and "dance-creativity."
For Study Ⅰ, assuming that there is creative dance-person among the successful persons in dance field, the researcher conducted a questionnaire survey to the "experts" who were in dance field for over ten years and the "students" majoring in dance. The questionnaire consisted of the questions asking the criteria to judge an individual as an excellent dancer or choreographer and some other questions, such as if there are certain special qualities in the excellent dancer's or the excellent choreographer's personality and if environment is important to make a good dancer or a good choreographer, etc. After the answers of the questionnaire had been analyzed, the eleven factors of dance-creativity (movement-sense, aesthetic sensibility, dance skill, dance-expressiveness, dance-intellectuality, dance-working composition ability, knowledge, dance-attitude, dance-motivation, experience, and environment) and their sub-factors were extracted. Also, the researcher structured the concepts of "dance-physicality," "dance-movementality," and "dance- reativity" as the factors of excellent dancer or choreographer.
In Study Ⅱ, based on the result of "Study Ⅰ," a questionnaire survey asking fifty-six questions with four scales to the "experts" and the "students" was conducted. This questionnaire asked the essence of dance-creativity. In order to analyze the answers, the SPSS for Windows 10.0 was used for the exploratory factor analysis and the AMOS 4.0 for the confirmatory factor analysis. As a result the analysis, this study crystallize the six components of dance-creativity, such as "movement-sense, dance-intellectuality, aesthetic sensibility, choreographic ability, dance-attitude and artistic experience,"and found the sub-factors of those components, such as movement-sense (kinetic sense and kinetic receptive capacity), dance-intellectuality (idea, analysis ability, point of view, imagination, insight, and proficiency), aesthetic sensibility (sensibility and emotion), dance- working composition ability (synthetic ability, stage-composition ability, and logical- working ability), dance-attitude (self-training and self-control), and artistic experience (aesthetic experience and dance-creating experience).
Examining the structure of dance-creativity, this study provides the basis for explaining the essence of creative dancer's performance and creative choreographer's work and specifies the area of dance educational psychology on theoretical level. At the same time, on practical level, this study will contribute to developing the curriculum to increase the students' creativity in dance education and the education for the dance-gifted.
