The purpose of this article was to examine the influence of the Ming Dynasty's Jixiao-xinshu(紀效新書) on the establishment of Joseon's martial arts and the perception and influence of the author Qi Ji-guang(戚 繼光), in Jos eon at the time of the introduction of Jixiao-xinshu through literature research. The conclusion of the article was as follows. After the Imjin War, Joseon actively introduced Jixiao-xinshu, and these efforts led to the publication of Muyezebo(武藝諸譜)(1598), Kuanbo(拳譜)(1604), Muyezebobenyeksokjib(武藝諸譜飜譯 續集)(1610), Muyexinbo(武藝新譜)(1759), and Muye-dobo-tongji(武藝圖譜通志)(1790). Various martial arts books were published under the influence of Jixiao-xinshu, but Joseon-style martial arts books were published beyond simple imitation or follow-up levels. The perception of Qi Ji-guang in Joseon is as follows. First, as an exemplary general, Qi Ji-guang, Second, Qi Ji-guang as a practical general, Third, it could be distinguished by Qi Ji-guang as a military thinker. Since the introduction of Jixiao-xinshu, this recognition has led to the publication of various martial arts books, which is considered to have had a positive effect on the establishment of the Joseon martial arts system.
