A J_IC test procedure using a single deeply cracked specimen is proposed.
The crack extension is measured by partially unloading the specimen to determine the compliance. J_IC test specimens were made of aluminum alloys 2024-F, 7075-T6, 5052H38.
Experimetal results show that the J_IC measured by this technique is in good agreement with the values measured by using multi-specimen methods.
This method is very simple and effective for J-Integral determination of Aluminum Alloys.
