사회서비스 공급 기관의 거리와 영리성이 바우처 이용에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증연구 -산모신생아도우미 바우처 시장을 중심으로- = The Effect of Distance and Ownership of Provider on Household Choice in Social Service Voucher Market: An Empirical analysis of The Maternity Home Care Voucher Market in Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper provides empirical evidence on (i) whether geographic boundaries set up for social service voucher services in Korea are adequately defined as markets which can widen the consumer’s choices and (ii) how consumers’ characteristics are different between nonprofit and for-profit providers. Specifically this paper employs a conditional logit model for social service provider choices by consumers with consumer-level data, including demographic information such as age, income, household size, and disability, in the Chungcheongnam-do province from February to March in 2008. Our empirical findings show that the distance to provider influences choice probability negatively, suggesting that the maternity home care service market is smaller than the designated province. Moreover, nonprofit providers have consumers with larger household size. It indicates the possibility that nonprofit providers may supply more intensive home care services, or it may reflect cherry-picking by for-profit providers.
