다문화 교육의 문제점과 간문화 학습의 대안적 유용성 = The Problems of Multicultural Education and Considerations of the value of Intercultural Learning

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis analyzes the problems of multicultural education in terms of teacher, learner, textbook and teaching-learning method and considers the value of Inter-cultural learning as an alternative for those problems.
The term 'intercultural learning' is used in this thesis discriminatingly from 'multicultural education' to emphasize the reciprocity, the exchange and the contact between cultures and to stress the point that 'intercultural learning' considers the cognitive process of learner who interprets and internalizes the culture.
By analyzing the definition , the goal and the learning process of intercultural learning, the following conclusions can be drawn.
First, well-prepared educational experiences are required for sufficient results of multicultural education and these experiences should be suggested in textbooks and scene of teaching.
Second, thorough understanding about cultural crossing-situation is needed to prevent psychological anxiety and learning resistance for multiculture, in addition to emphasis on the tolerant attitude toward other culture.
Third, all the social phenomena and knowledge should be understood in the sociocultural context to form desirable attitudes towards multi-culture. After all, this can be reached through the definition of 'intercultural capability' that means meta-cognitive ability.
According to these conclusions, inter-cultural learning is expected to improve the problems of multicultural education meaningfully that exist in Korean society.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문에서는 교사, 학습자, 교과서 및 교수-학습 방법면에서 나타나는 다문화 교육의 문제점을 분석해보고 이에 대한 대안으로서 간문화 학습의 유용성을 검토하였다.
다문화 교육이라는 용어와 차별하여 간문화 학습이라는 개념을 사용한 것은 문화와 문화 사이의 상호 작용 또는 교류와 접촉을 강조하고, 문화를 해석하고 의미화하는 학습자 주체의 인지 과정을 고려하는 특성을 강조하기 위해서였다.
간문화 학습의 의미와 목표, 학습의 과정을 분석함으로써 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 다문화 교육의 충분한 성과를 위해서는 교육적으로 준비된 경험의 필요하며 이는 교과서와 수업의 장면에서 충분히 제시되어야 한다. 둘째, 타문화에 대한 관용적 태도를 강조하면서도 심리적인 불안과 학습저항을 불러일으키지 않기 위해 문화적인 교차 상황에 대한 충분한 이해가 필요하다. 셋째, 바람직한 다문화적 태도의 형성을 위해서는 사회·문화적 맥락에서 모든 사회적 현상과 지식을 이해해야 하며 이는 결국 메타인지적 능력을 의미하는 ‘간문화 능력’의 개념을 통해 도달할 수 있다. 이러한 측면에서 간문화 학습은 우리 사회에서 나타나고 있는 다문화 교육의 문제점을 유의미하게 개선해 줄 것이라 생각한다.
