The purpose of this research is to examine the present condition of children’s fundamental life education web sites; and to analyze their quality using assessment tools. This research is meant to provide resources about web sites on various children’s learning and information related to fundamental life education; and to set a standard to sort useful and content rich web sites among them. 2. The present condition of online contents related to fundamental life education

3-3 Do online contents for children and parents manage etiquette, cleanliness, order and safety, temperance and self-reliance in balance?
For this research, a set of questions were developed to assess contents for fundamental life education. Delphi examination was done by three children’s education specialists and 19 questions were selected; and a survey was done on 89 kindergarten teachers to test the degrees of adequacy and significance.
Using the tested set of 19 questions to assess fundamental life education contents and content assessment questions from Kim Young-hee’s (2003) children’s education online assessment questions, fundamental life education contents from 27 children’s education and 27 web sites and parents were analyzed and assessed. Summary of the results is as follows.
First, the standard for analyzing online contents related to fundamental life education reflected the realities that children’s education sites target pre-school to lower grade children; and that the significance of fundamental life education for pre-school to lower grade children is emphasized. Therefore, the contents of kindergarten education course, elementary school preparation guide, “We are in 1st grade” and “Bareun Senghwal” were analyzed; and elements of etiquette, cleanliness, order and safety, temperance and self-reliance were sorted to develop a 25-question draft; and then the final 19 questions were developed through Delphi examination and a survey on kindergarten teachers.
Second, the present condition of online contents regarding fundamental life education was primarily outlined based on 27 education web sites for children and 27 education web sites for parents to find out fundamental life education content is managed in what section.
Third, based on the assessment questions, qualities of education, fitness, integration and substantiality for children, and qualities of educationally usefulness, accuracy, reliability and substantiality for parents were assessed using 5 point scale.
Web sites that provide educational contents, in which children can directly play with interesting games and flash story-telling plays, and education guide, which can be applied in real life, were scored high. In overall, the scores ranged from 2.19 to 4.40. The perfect score was 5.0, and the results of the assessment related to fundamental life education were as follows, in order of higher points: order and safety (2.79), cleanliness (2.50), etiquette (2.44) and cleanliness and self-reliance (2.27). In other words, it shows that order and safety content scored higher in terms of quantity and quality.
How much the web sites for parents attributed to multi-media content, and how cleanly classified fundamental life education related information determined the scores. In overall, the scores ranged from 2.37 to 4.00, and as web sites for children did, there was a big gap between the higher and the lower ranks. The perfect score was 5.0, and the results of the assessment related to fundamental life education web sites for parents were as follows, in order of higher points: etiquette (2.42), cleanliness, temperance and self-reliance (2.18) and order and safety (2.10). That is, etiquette content was considered more importantly among contents for parents.
