The purpose of this article is to verify a necessity of balanced method of missions. To obtain the purpose, an exegetical study of the relevant bible verses regarding centripetal mission and centrifugal mission will be taken from the Bible and extract the Biblical meaning of the mission. And the historical research and current example of community mission will be suggested. The result of the research will contribute the development of the centripetal mission in missiology. Jesus mentioned two ways of mission: one is by loving one another as a New Commandment (Joh. 13:34-35) and the other is by preaching the gospel as the Great Commission (Mat. 28:16-20). Most of the missiological study and mission activity are confined to the Great Commission as centrifugal mission. The basis and starting point of mission is not just sending missionaries and preaching the gospel, but loving one another. John 17:21 shows that to be one body of love is an authentic pathway of mission as centripetal mission. Missiology mainly emphasizes the Great Commission, but little attention has been given to the New Commandment as a pathway of missions. The approach of the witness of the Christian community of love as the New Commandment should be dealt with in mission. This article will clarify the importance of Christian community in mission as a witnessing channel of the gospel, and explore ways to reach a balanced method of mission.
