The filial piety is an ethic functioning in human relationships. In the old days, the filial piety was regarded as a very important virtue because it was the basis of all works, but today, the meaning is much faded. However, the filial piety is still human's only ethics and its meaning is still thought to be valid. This article analyzes 「Filial Son Ju's Story」 written by Hwang Yeo-il, from the material of the filial son, Ju Gyeong-an. To this end, this study first summarized the relationship between Hwang Yeo-il, the filial son Ju, and then analyzed the 「Filial Son Ju's Story」. The characteristic of 「Filial Son Ju's Story」 is that the filial piety of Ju Gyeong-an begins with the filial piety of the parents, and the filial piety symbol reaches the neighborhood and leads to the loyalty for the nation, which extends to somewhere touching the gods of heaven and earth. This demonstrates that the practical ethics of filial piety has social potential. When this is well realized, it is thought that it is possible to find solutions to many problems that modern society has. Nowadays it is said that it is an age with no adults. It would be because adults do not play adult roles. In order for an adult to have an adult role, the society must be socially respectful of an adult. When there is teaching of filial piety, which honors family adults from the family, this mind can only be manifested outside. This is the reason why many filial son stories were built and why the filial piety is still meaningful social ethics. The ethics called the filial piety should not be regarded as a pre‐modern ethic, but it seems that it is necessary to positively accept it as a modern social ethic.
