부모의 학대가 아동의 우울에 미치는 영향에 있어서의 자기존중감의 효과 = The influence of their parent`s abuse on depression of children, The effects of self-esteem

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 부모의 학대가 아동의 우울에 미치는 영향에 있어서 자기존중 감이 가지는 직접효과 및 조절효과를 검토하였다. 자료는 충남의 한 중소도시에 위치한 초등학교 5~6학년에 재학중인 남녀아동 367명으로부터 수집되었다. 기술통계, 상관분석, 중 다 회귀분석 등을 실시하였으며, 분석 결과, 부모에 의한 학대가 아동에게 우울을 초래할 때, 자기존중 감은 우울에 대한 조절효과를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 자기존중 감이 낮을 경우에 자기존중 감은 우울을 감소시키지 못하지만 자기존중 감이 높을 경우 자기존중 감은 우울을 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 학대를 경험하는 아동의 우울에 대한 자기존중 감의 조절효과를 보여줌으로써 조절효과 가설을 지지하고 있다는 점에서 학문적인 의의가 있다. 그리고 학대 받은 아동의 자기존중 감 향상을 위한 상담 및 자기존중 감 증진을 위한 프로그램 계획에 있어서 실질적 근거를 제공한다는 점에서 실천적인 의의가 있다.

This study examines the main and moderating effects of self-esteem on depression of children abused by their parents. Data were collected from 367 boys and girls at three elementary schools in a medium-sized city of Chungnam-do. Descriptive analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression were conducted. As results, when abuse by their parent brings about depression in children, self-esteem has the moderating effect on depression. When the level of self-esteem is low, self-esteem doesn`t alleviate depression, But when the level of self-esteem is high, self-esteem alleviates depression. This study supports the moderating effect hypothesis of self-esteem on depression of children abused by their parents, and offers the reasons of enhancing of self-esteem in counselling and program design for abused children.
