This study presents air conditioning system characteristics using R-410A as an alternative refrigerant for R-22. The experiment is performed using air-enthalpy calorimeter combined with the refrigerant cycle. The optimized refrigerant mass was first found for each cycle. The cooling capacity and COP are measured on various indoor/outdoor temperatures both for R-410A and R-22 and comparisions are made. The experimental results indicated that the R-410A cycle reveals better performance over the R-22 cycle for indoor temperature changes, while the R-22 cycle shows higher cooling capacity and COP for outdoor temperature changes.
