This study aimed to identify the changes of adolescents’ perceived attachment to parents, self-esteem, and life satisfaction over time and to verify the mediating effect of self-esteem in the relationship between parent attachment an life satisfaction. The study utilized the panel data of four grades of elementary school (from 1st to 5th years)conducted by the Korean Youth Panel Survey(KYPS) and analyzed data from 2,448 students. In this study, implementing latent growth curve analysis using the statistical package Amos. Latent growth curve analysis was employed as an analysis framework with adolescents’perceived relationship between parent attachment and life satisfaction as time-variant covariance. Also, verification of the self-esteem of parameter effect on each such variable. The analysis revealed that their parent attachment and life satisfaction had increasingly decreased while their self-esteem increased gradually. Additionally, parent attachment as well as self-esteem had an effect on life satisfaction. The total effect was the highest whens self-esteem was partially mediated. Therefore, it is necessary to implement social programs to provide parent education and improve self-esteem to increase life satisfaction in adolescents.
